Tata Zica

The Zica’s design is undoubtedly the best we have seen from Tata Motors and one of the best in the segment. If you compare it with Tata’s current portfolio, this one is a fresh breath of air. The signature smiley grille is probably the only familiar design element, however, the glossy black honey-comb treatment gives it a more premium appeal. The large, sweptback headlamps give it a distinct front face. In profile, the top variants get 14-inch alloy wheels that nicely fill the arches. A strong rising waistline gives the Zica an athletic stance, while the elegantly shaped taillights clusters are great. It also gets an integrated rear spoiler with black inserts on both sides, which is a nice touch, too.The interior of the Zica, especially the dual tone dashboard, is well laid out and really pleasing. While the black upper section of the dashboard is made of quality plastic and has a premium feel, the lower grey section looks and feels cheap.

HONDA BR-V

First things first, Honda makes it very clear that the BR-V is a crossover Utility Vehicle and not a compact SUV. Although based on the Brio platform, the BR-V appears a whole order of magnitude more solid and upright. The front has a very muscular and SUV-ish look, thanks to the squared-off styling, angular headlamps with projectors, chunky two-part grille and well-sculpted bumper. The BR-V gets an all-black dashboard similar to the Jazz. Real knobs and buttons are missing as the centre console gets touch sensitive panels for climate control. The test car being a prototype, it just had a plastic panel instead of the infotainment system. Although there’s no official confirmation from Honda, rumour has it that the BR-V will get a touchscreen infotainment system as seen on the Indonesian spec product. Steering mounted controls were missing in the prototype, too.

Maruti S-Cross

NEXA is a new sales network, through which Maruti Suzuki will be selling its premium cars in future. A brand that’s never known for luxury or premiumness, Maruti is all set to change that image with the new chain and future premium products.
The S-Cross is quintessential crossover – raised ground clearance, integrated roof rails and black body cladding giving a familiar rugged look. However, this one looks more special and original than most of its rivals that have added a “Cross” to their hatchback siblings.

Ford Figo Aspire

The Ford Figo Aspire has a very satisfying design when compared to its closest rivals. The gaping grille with thin chrome bars gives the Aspire the same character as its elder sibling - the Fiesta. The swept-back polygonal headlamp and the bonnet bulge add to its attractiveness when viewed from front three quarters. Move to the sides and you immediately know it’s a compact sedan but thanks to an elongated character line and rising beltline, proportions appear balanced. Ditto for the car's posterior; the boot is well integrated and the wraparound taillights are joined by a chrome strip across the bootlid. The fact that the Figo Aspire is among the best-looking

Renault Kwid

The Renault Kwid is a breath of fresh air in the boring entry-level segment. At the first glance, it’s difficult to figure out whether the Kwid is a hatchback or an SUV. In fact, it wouldn’t be an overstatement to call it a crossover of a hatchback and an SUV or even a shrunken Duster.

Hyundai Creta

The Creta is very much a lifestyle statement. Despite being categorized as a compact SUV, the Creta is a well-formed vehicle with balanced proportions. The front has a very strong presence owing to the muscular grille, accompanied with beefy front bumper and large fog lamps. Projector headlamps are accentuated by Daytime Running Lights. In profile, the Creta stands tall on 17-inch alloy wheels and a rising character line along with roof rails add to the tall stance. The rear design is very clean and simple, with wide wraparound taillights. Overall, the fluidic design language isn’t as loud as seen on other Hyundais, but that’s a good thing on this SUV, which will appeal to wider audience. The Hyundai Creta will be offered with a 1.6 petrol and 1.4 and 1.6 diesels, all mated to a six-speed manual transmission. The good news is that the 1.6 diesel is available with a six-speed automatic transmission as well. All engines are borrowed from the Verna, while the six-speed automatic transmission is new. The 1.4-litre U2 CRDi produces 90PS while the 1.6-litre CRDi diesel puts out 128PS.

Chevrolet FNR Concept Dreams of a Self-Driving Future

While we wait for real versions of self-driving vehicles to emerge, a few automakers continue to play with the question of how different a self-driving car could be. While the Mercedes-Benz F015 was one such answer, here's another from an unexpected source: Chevrolet.

The Chevrolet FNR Concept was built in Shanghai by General Motors' Pan Asia Technical Automotive Center as a self-driving electric vehicle from a future that's more "Blade Runner" than "Idiocracy." Start with the starter; the car turns on via eye scanner. Headlights and taillights illuminate via lasers; motive power comes from hubless electric motors in each wheel, with energy stored via a wireless charging system, and the "dragonfly" doors add an extra level of drama.

And of course, the car has enough software to map its own routes, sense the surroundings for self-driving and let the driver turn around 180 degrees and talk to passengers. The first self-driving car to wear a bowtie badge won't look like this, but it will take this much intelligence to build

Hyundai Verna 2015

A mellower version of its former self, the 2015 Verna stays close to its original fluidic recipe while adding more spice to its overall looks. The front fascia has been thoroughly redesigned to reflect contemporary tastes and trends. The signature hexagonal grille has made way for a wing shaped one with dual chrome slats. Surprisingly, the daytime running lights introduced in the 2014 Verna have been ditched for a simpler headlamp unit with projectors. Aggressively redesigned front bumper features boomerang shaped fog lamps that give the Verna a sportier

Datsun Go +

Stretch the Datsun GO a few inches, throw in a third row of seats and you get the GO+. When observed head on, one really cannot tell the difference between the two because everything from the hexagonal grille, angular headlamps to the well-sculpted bonnet remains the same. In profile, the addition of 210mm beyond the C pillar is the major change and Datsun has done that job neatly. The sloping roofline, rising beltline and the rear quarter glass are seamlessly integrated and give the car a mini-MPV stance. However, the undersized 13-inch wheels that don’t fill the wheel arches are an eyesore. Nothing much has changed in the rear, save for a more upright windshield and the number plate that’s been shifted to the tailgate. Though not exciting, the Datsun GO+ has a simple and elegant exterior design.
